najii person laments in his juneteenth 2020 drop: ‘Numb’ ft. Myke Grizzly

With production by Najii Person as well as bars, ‘Numb’ is a sonic vigil to the energy lost after fighting every day for change, peace, and the ptsd absorbed from living in a country that is rigged against a black man and his dreams.

Najii Person is back with another new single, just one month after his latest single ‘Hi’. Released on this Juneteenth, 2020, ‘Numb’ speaks to the inescapable feeling that all black men, women and children face, living in the USA. With #blacklivesmatter protests around the world, and the media cycles bombarding the public with endless debates on whether property or black lives are more valuable, one can grow extremely numb to the toll that takes, especially if you don’t have the privilege to walk away from the onslaught, as all white people do.

With soft pulsing horns and a sleepy piano progression, ‘Numb’ feels like taking a nap during the day or finding your way to the heavenly gates, as if in a dream. His vocal delivery is somewhere between 3 stacks and Wayne and the tone Najii takes expands upon the numbness he is feeling. This track is phenomenally relevant and will serve as a 2020 memento for years to come. Ears up!
